50 years ago, in 1976, James Hunt won the Formula 1 World Championship. His close friend and party wing man Barry Sheene was also dominating, having won the 500cc World Championships that same year. These two were the kings of Motorsport and they made the most of it!
In our hand drawn illustration, we have Hunt sitting in his McLaren M23 and Sheene offering moral support at the Japanese Grand Prix, October 1976.
James Hunt (1947-1993)
James Hunt won the F1 Championship in 1976. He retired from racing in 1979. He was a big character in the paddock during his relatively short F1 career.
Barry Sheene (1950-2003)
Barry Sheene raced from 1971 to 1984, winning the 500cc World Championships in 1976 and 1977 riding for Suzuki.
